“Beauty is energetic”

In 2004 I graduated college with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing, emphasis in entrepreneurship, with no idea what I would ever do with it. I took an intern position thinking I would work my way up the ladder of success. Except, after maybe 4 years I started to feel stagnant and began questioning my place there. During this time of transition and confusion, I stumbled upon a PBS special featuring Dr. Wayne Dyer and my perceptions began to shift. I began a rigorous fitness program, and devoted myself to self-care, not knowing then that I was in the depths of the stereotypical “soul searching” we often hear about. It was during these moments I decided since I loved doing it so much, maybe I could find a way to make a living from it.

Becoming licensed as an Esthetician in 2008 was a turning point in my faith and trust in the Universe. It wasn’t long after gaining experience in a spa that I heard another call that drew me deeper into the healing arts: Reiki. Between 2012 through 2020 I’ve worked my way up to Usui Reiki Master (the highest level where you’re allowed to teach and perform ceremonies).  I’ve taken continuing education in Crystal Balancing Certification, Bach Flower Therapy training, Aromatherapy, Dermaplaning, Shamanic Healing Medicine Wheel, and am also an Ordained Minister. Throughout the years, I’ve presented services at the ISPA Media Event in New York and taught numerous workshops about the areas of study I currently focus on.

Each of these practices in healing arts opened my eyes, head, and heart to all the alternative ways to work with healing traumas, big or small. Knowing we have to feel it to heal it, these courses propelled me to continue to dive into my own inner work –a lifelong process for us all. In 2016, I decided to take a leap of faith opening the doors to The Refinery Esthetics Bar, LLC. At the time, I started with one facial service option and brow waxing, while still keeping my day job. Now, just a few years later, it’s an incredible feeling to walk through the doors and see many healing practitioners working within the space we now call The Refinery Wellness Center.

I believe that healing, on all levels, is imperative for our health. When we see skin conditions arise, we know they are tied to an internal imbalance. The internal imbalance is tied to an energetic (mental/emotional) imbalance. By providing a skin-soothing facial, an intuitive energy work session, or by teaching a class or a workshop – my goal is to always leave you feeling calm, focused, and bright both on the physical and energetic level.

There are many fields of study I yearn to absorb and bring here to this quaint corner of the world where my husband and three children reside. Outside of the treatment room, you can find us spending time outside, gardening, golfing, visiting parks, pools, lakes, working out, or having a family movie night snuggling on the couch together.
