Tell me about Reiki

Reiki (pronounced ray-kay).

Reiki is a form of energy healing that can help alleviate physical, emotional, mental and spiritual stress. It is a way to 'tune up' your energy to its healthiest state allowing for healing to take place.

Reiki is a gentle and safe healing practice that is geared towards removing any energy blocks in our system caused by emotional, mental or physical stress and pain. A client may feel heat, tingling or cooling sensations as energy blockages are removed. Most all clients get to a deep state of peace and relaxation during a session.

The philosophy is based on the body's ability to heal itself naturally once energy blocks are removed and proper chi is re-established. Reik is not tied to any religion or a particular spiritual belief system.

Reiki is believed to be rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese born Buddhist Monk. He traveled to the holy mountains of Kori Yama and after 21 days of fasting and meditating achieved an altered state of consciousness in which he experienced spiritual enlightenment and an energetic modality of healing power. Upon his return to the monastery, he felt pulled to begin healing the poor and homeless but stumbled across new findings. Many of the people he worked with continued to return and not begin a new life of healing themselves. It was then that he realized that those who wanted to achieve healing also needed to make the mental commitment, as well as the physical commitment to healing. It was then that he created the 5 Reiki Principles to live by.

Throughout the years, Usui had several pupils but most Reiki lineage is traced through two main sources: Dr. Chuhiro Hayashi and Mrs. Hayayo Takata. It was she that brought Reiki to the United States. The Reiki Master that I studied under is also trained and certified by a direct descendant of Takata and it is Takata's and Usui's names that are listed on my certification.

What is a Reiki session like with yours truly?
I am always cognizant of the private and personal nature of any healing session. If you have never had one done before, or even if you are feeling incredibly imbalanced it is normal to have a bit of curiosity of what will happen during the session. Please be rest assured that your vulnerability with be handled with velvet gloves.

I do not care to book energy work back to back and I am always aware of the energy other clients bring in with them on the same day so I am scheduling each appointment by design. I approach each client in a gentle and modest way as to not be overly direct with entering their space too much. With each session, I incorporate the use of crystals to aid in chakra balancing and emotional release.

Following any energy session, it is wise to be kind to yourself and emotions you may experience. You may feel energetic, tired, confused or incredibly clear, sad or the happiest you've been in years - it is different for every individual and every session. It is always recommended to drink plenty of water as your body will be working very hard to flush the toxic negative energy out of your systems the days following a session.

Do you have more questions I didn't address? Have you had sessions done and want to share your experience? Is this something that has you thinking "hey that sounds pretty neat...hmmmmm"? Reach out! Email me, text me, comment below - I'd love to hear from you!
